A 1930s Art Deco cut crystal and silver plated cocktail shaker by WMF with silver plated top and cap, with internal, removable silver plated ice sieve.
WMF was a leading global exporter of household metalware in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. WMF is an abbreviation for Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik, a renowned German manufacturer of high-quality metalware, crystal and tableware founded in 1853. They produced both the crystal and metal work in their own factories
WMF became particularly famous for its silver-plated items, especially those in the Art Nouveau (or Jugendstil in German) and Art Deco styles, many of which incorporated cut crystal or glass components such as liners for bowls, tops for cocktial shaker, claret jugs, and table centrepieces.
Their work is highly sought after by collectors
